Customer problems, positioning, product strategy, UX, information architecture, and the discipline to decide what is not worth building.
About Jose Alvarado
I’m CTO at Micr and a product and platform engineer based in the South Bay of Los Angeles. I connect the visible product to the systems, decisions, and operating realities underneath it.

Products rarely become fragile inside one discipline. The important failures happen between disciplines, where context is lost and ownership becomes unclear.
My work begins with the user and the business decision, then moves through interface design, application architecture, data, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and operating cost. That range lets me see how a choice in one layer changes the others.
I’m most useful when a product is ambitious, the tradeoffs are real, and the team needs someone who can make the whole system legible. I turn broad goals into clear decisions, working software, and evidence the business can rely on.

I keep three kinds of work connected from the start, because separating them creates expensive surprises later.
Customer problems, positioning, product strategy, UX, information architecture, and the discipline to decide what is not worth building.
Full-stack applications, APIs, data, real-time systems, cloud infrastructure, deployment, observability, recovery, and performance.
Security, privacy, reliability, operating cost, monetization constraints, and the evidence required before a product makes a claim.

The work changes by company. The standard does not: understand the problem, expose the tradeoffs, and make the next decision defensible.

My work spans product direction, UX, architecture, and infrastructure, with a current emphasis on measurable reliability, recovery, observability, security, and operating cost.

The work connects product structure, trust, data presentation, and the full-stack system required to make complicated information useful without overstating what the evidence says.

I care about quality of judgment as much as quality of execution. The work should leave the product and the people running it stronger.
Define the user, business outcome, constraints, and evidence that would change the answer before choosing the solution.
Treat UX, architecture, security, cost, and operations as one set of tradeoffs instead of separate handoffs.
Measure critical paths, document uncertainty, test recovery, and say only what the available evidence can support.
